Why Megyn Thinks This Moment of Kamala Harris on ‘The View’ Should Be a Trump Campaign Ad

Since taking over for Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket, Kamala Harris and her surrogates have been doing their best to distance her from the unpopular history of the Biden-Harris administration.

Those attempts have been despite the fact that the vice president often boasted about being the “last person in the room” with the president when big decisions (think: the botched Afghanistan withdrawal) were being made. In fact, Harris seemingly doubled down on the idea during an appearance on The View.

On Tuesday’s show, Megyn reacted to the vice president’s latest sit-down and shared why she believes it would make an effective ad for the Trump campaign given what the polls are currently showing.

As part of her new media strategy, Harris has been sitting for friendly interviews with Call Her Daddy60 MinutesThe View, Howard Stern, and Stephen Colbert in quick succession.

She stopped by to chat with the ladies of The View on Tuesday where she received, in Megyn’s words, an Elvis-like welcome from Whoopi Goldberg and the crew. “Welcome back [pause], the next president of the United States,” Goldberg said with balled fists as the audience cheered.

The interview was similarly fawning. Megyn has been a guest on The View and, in her experience, the questions the hosts ask are pre-written and offered to guests ahead of time. As such, Megyn said “there is zero chance, in my opinion, they did not give Kamala Harris the questions in advance,” which makes her fumbled answers all the more head-scratching.

Biden vs. Harris

At one point, Sunny Hostin teed Harris up to explain exactly how her administration would differ from the current one. After giving a non-answer, Hostin gave the vice president a softball follow-up on the topic that she once again whiffed on.

Harris on The View

Megyn said the exchange sounded like a Chris Farley skit. “She realizes she is on quicksand and then she fails… In the follow-up question, she basically says, ‘We’re the same,’” she noted. “Good luck spinning that because this poll shows us that the people want different. They want change. They do not want four more years of Joe Biden.”

The latest New York Times/Siena poll found voters now see Harris as the candidate that represents “change” in this election by two-point margin. Megyn believes the Trump campaign should capitalize on what Harris just had to say on the topic in her own words.

“I guarantee you that is being made into an ad right now… There is no chance [Donald]Trump is not going to clip the second half of that answer and end it with what he has been doing, which is, ‘I’m Donald Trump, and I approve this message,’” Megyn concluded. “That is her owning all the Biden policies.”
